02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I kept seeing it in links in people's profiles (of the "Sorted Into" variety) and I got curious. Now I'm really curious. I've always wondered what House others might sort me into.
03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?
It was a book? Seriously, it was a huge and possibly fascinating book. There were rumours that there as going to be more than one. When you read like I do (ie, constantly and quickly) those are attributes too valuable to be passed up. Then it turned out to be really good, so I kept reading.
( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?
Surprisingly, we started reading them when I was in Middle School in my English Class; we'd read a chapter or so of the 'Philosopher’s Stone' everyday. I liked the series right away, I liked the uniqueness and I was kind of enchanted by the idea of a Wizard School as I was kind of into the magic/witch/wizard thing a the time. I started reading the Chamber of Secrets, and just get kept going. As I grew older and re-read them, I like them even more because I wasn't so hung up on the wizarding/magic aspect as I was by the struggle of life, death, loss, good and evil. Jo's a wonderful story teller, and great at connecting the dots.

02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? My friend Jenna told me about it. One night we were chatting and she mentioned she’d filled out an application here and that I should do so as well, so I did! :)
03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? I only read them because I wanted to know what all the hype was about, really. I didn’t even think I’d like them. Boy, was I wrong! I read the first book right after PoA came out in theatres, and I was instantly hooked. I knew everything about Harry Potter, absolutely every little miniscule detail (I’ve forgotten a lot of it since, unfortunately. It was pretty impressive, ngl). My mom even made me a Sorting Hat cake for my birthday that year! It was delicious. Oh wow, I think that was my 12th birthday. I was heartbroken because there was no longer even the slightest chance of me getting a letter from Hogwarts.

hogwartsishome, and I've seen a couple of members there that are here as well, so I thought it'd be nice to try it out. I've recycled some of my previous answers in my application here as well, though, since it's only been a while since I was sorted there, and I don't think I've changed much.
03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?
Um, my cousins. I was visiting their house one day and happened upon the first book in her bookshelf. I tried avoiding it first, since it seemed so childish and immature, and some of my friends were telling me not to read it, but I still did, anyway. And I haven't looked back since.

Though it was frigid outside with snow on the ground, I got my tree eyes project completed today! I made three sets: straight, right, and left looking eyes. I mounted these with small nails and then colored the nail heads black with a sharpie. Did I mention that there is snow on the ground! My hands are still cold!

The White Card Project. Brought to you by Dummypress.
Unobtrusive white cards are printed with single words, phrases, thoughts and other lovely things and distributed throughout the world by you. Cards can be left on the bus, tucked into a book at your local store, left on the table at a coffeehouse, handed directly to the recipient, hidden somewhere, slipped in with a gift or a letter or kept in your sock drawer for the next 85 years.
The idea is to inspire thought, a laugh, a conversation, collaboration and a sense of discovery.

**FINAL EDIT Thu Dec 10 02:15:47 UTC 2009**
So there is the final update... Over the past day we have processed around 11 million jobs out of the 12 million that were in queue at that time. Please bear in mind that over this past day, more jobs for notifications are also created. So while the queue has been dropping, we are still not fully caught up at this point, due to backlog and new jobs. We have roughly 3 million jobs still pending that involve the notification system in some manner. We had hoped we could have fully cleared the queue in a day, but unfortunately we can't clear it too quickly, since we need the rest of the site to operate normally. From our current perspective on the amount of jobs that are left in queue, and how many it has processed thus far, we believe it will take around another 8 - 12 hours to process everything.
And finally some answers to some questions:

02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I got no idea. I've been aware of it for ages, but I don't know where I heard of it first. Possibly some place like Encyclopedia Dramatica or Fandom Wank or something like that. In any case, I bookmarked it 'cause I thought it seemed neat. :D
03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?
I'd been interested in reading for quite a while before I did. I uh. Read it for the same reason I read Twilight. And that's the last comparison you'll hear me making between HP and that jacked-up marketing sensation of a masturbation fantasy. If you're a Twilight fan -- no offense intended. We all got our vices. :D For me, it's an undying love of The Baby-sitter's Club.
But yeah. In short, I'm a pop culture vulture and I like to know what's going on. So I hijacked my sister's collection shortly before the release of the last book. Flash-forward two years, and I'm getting dolled up as (fabulous 80's bridesmaid version!) Narcissa for the midnight opening of HBP. And hoping to pull off McGonagall by the time the final movie's out. /badjoke

my mom took me to see the first movie, and i loved it; i picked up the first book a few days after and fell in love with Draco Malfoy.. :)
However, i read the first book and had no idea other books were out. even though i knew the movie left some kind of cliffhanger and that there was a second movie already being made, i just was too lazy to pick up the second book until after i saw the movie, but after i saw the second movie i picked up the third book and realized how much better the books are then the movies. lol.

I kept reading them as they came out. I was never forced to read them, or persuaded to do so; it was common in my family to give me books as presents, and I read them regardless of what they were. I chose to keep reading them when I fell in love with the series shortly after the third book. I was still young then (probably thirteen or so?), but I devoured those books. I still read them and love them and... tldr; nothing made me read them, but I keep reading them because I love them.
